Going Back Home

It’s my mom’s birthday and her only request is that the whole family visit her on her birthday.

We only get together as a family once a year, so I truly get the importance of her request. I love my family so much, yet I wonder why I don’t make the effort to see them more.

Oh yeah, I have it that we fight too much. That every time we get together, it’s too loud and too emotional.  I am the one who always tries to mediate conflicts and end up crying because I don’t get the results that I want.

So here I am at home. Our life circumstances are the same. Yet somehow I have a different experience. The “fighting” doesn’t seem to bother me as much.

Before I used blame them for everything that was “wrong.” This time, I decide to give that up. I decide to express love. That simple. My mom repeatedly tells me, “You are so patient these days!”

I now have a new experience of my family. I can enjoy them– exactly how they are. I am empowered and in action! I help out where needed and spend quality time with each of them.

I  have profound experience of myself as a loving daughter and someone who is up to something.

You may have an experience in your life that just does not  seem to change. Maybe you are resigned about your art business? Maybe you think that no matter how hard you try, you won’t really achieve your goals?

What are you willing to let go of? What will you create instead?
